Day 54 - October 12, 2013

October 12, 2013

Adak Island to Anchorage, Alaska, U.S.A. (1,080 NM)

Cleared customs for U.S. Everything went so smooth as if we do this everyday.

Tomorrow, we will fly home.

Day 44 to 51 - October 4 to October 10, 2013

October 4 to October 10, 2013
Hochiminh City, Vietnam to Taipei, Taiwan
By flying to Taipei, instead of flying through Southern Hemisphere, we shortened our trip by almost 30 days. We are sad that we skip Australia and New Zealand, but it will be a better trip next time when we are not so tired. The unexpected is typhoon Fitlo. It has been on our tails since Vietnam. Now, it is catching up on us. Another typhoon system form to pass Japan almost at the same time. After studying the storms, instead of flying to Nagoya, and wait it out there, it is much better we wait out the storm entirely in Taipei. After all, we have family and many friends around Taipei.
Typhoon right in our way out to Japan.
One will hit Japan soon.
Two systems forming.

October 4, 2013 - Passing highest mountain of Taiwan, Monte Jade, elevation 12,966 ft as we decent to land

Taipei FBO is professional and efficient.

October 5, 2013
Anticipating strong gust, went back to airport to tie down airplane the old fashion way, by sand bags.

Gathering with friends. David come to meet up from Hong Kong, Jason, El Monte Pilot, and Grace, together with commercial pilot friends who base in Taiwan. Nice welcome luncheon at our favorite Peking duck restaurant.

October 6, 2013

Take out of town friends to Taipei Fish Market for breakfast. The standing sushi bar is the newest thing.

October 9, 2013

Tomorrow, Jeffrey and G will continue take PC12 fly to Nagoya and Saporo, Japan. Renee will take commercial flight direct from Taipei to LAX after a few more days with family.
