Bodrum, Turkey to Aqaba, Jordan (535 NM)
Today is a short two and half hours fly and no time differences. A little confusion at the terminal. We stopped at General aviation half unloading luggages, then were told should go to International. Got to international, then were told we should use General after all. Custom was a breeze. Surprisingly, Bodrum has a high class FBO (Fixed Base Operator). Yacht club seems to be the major activities here.
Group of six crew member. Lorne, Lyn, Renee Jeffrey, Thierry, Sophie.
Leaving the seashore town to Middle East.
Renee's napping quarter.
Approaching Aqaba, Jordan. All desert sandy landscape.
Landing was quite choppy due to the desert heat. The tower's direction was hard to follow so Jeffrey did a turn around and visually landed the plane. A runway of Israel is just next to Aqaba runway ( only 5 miles apart). Controller repeatedly says " Do not fly cross to Israel air". Jordan is bordering Isreal and Syria. Right now, not affected by the Syria situation. People living lives as usual. Nice FBO at Aqaba too.
Fueling at Aqcba. Outside temperature is near 40 degree C.
Red Sea beach. So hot, did not even get close to the water. Scuba diving supposedly very good but do not have time to dive.
I don't know if we are roasted or toasted. Inside is better.
Go to town for dinner. Today is Monday, Jeffrey 's fasting day. He came to dinner for chat.
Sunset time also pray time.
A camel ride back to hotel passing McDonold's.
Tomorrow we will have a tour to Petra, trailing the passage of ancient camel convoy.
Aqaba King Hussein International airport reminds me Calexico airport and the Mexicali next to it. But tension is much higher.
